INJURY PREVENTION AND RECOVERY

AVOIDING INJURIES

INJURY PREVENTION
AND RECOVERY

Injuries are one of an athlete’s greatest fears. And, in turn, they are one of the most serious problems athletes may encounter in their careers. Thus, preventing injuries from occurring should be paramount in the day-to-day life of the athlete. Objective: to avoid injury.

Nevertheless, once an injury has occurred, the right decisions must be made from the very first moment. Failure to do so may delay recovery, lead to chronic problems, or even force you to quit the sport.

This is why it is essential to define the work method right away, to indicate to both the athlete and those responsible for their recovery when they can get back to training again.

STEPS WE FOLLOW FROM INJURY TO RETURN TO ACTION:

EVALUATION

PHASE 1

This is first and foremost, since it is impossible to work properly if we do not know where we are starting from. We need real, technology-based evaluations. We will determine the deficits the injury or problem is causing in the athlete. Physiological assessments do little to help us in this regard. What they offer us are parameters, such as pulse and blood lactate levels.

These are only performance control values. We carry out a muscular assessment that helps us determine exactly where we are and what the focus of the problem may be.

EXECUTION

PHASE 2

Once the state of the athlete is clear, we are in the ideal situation to begin work. The muscular deficits presented are the ones that must be enhanced to balance the muscles and get the necessary power levels back to be able to let the athlete recover and prevent them from having problems again.

At this stage, the physical therapist and osteopath are of vital importance. They will help us to release the most overloaded areas so that we can continue with the scheduled work.

TESTING

PHASE 3

The last part of the process is to re-test, and thus find out the results of the actions that have been carried out. In addition, it is an objective way to show an athlete when they are ready to return to action. Always with minimal risk of re-injury and with objective evaluations with comparisons to the non-injured areas.

The secret is to be able to test intra- and inter-muscular levels to verify that they are all working in a balanced way in order to offer a more reliable guarantee than can be offered by a subjective manual test.

AVOID INJURIES WITH GLOBAL PERFORMANCE

A CONTINUOUS PROCESS

THIS IS NOT A ONE-TIME ISOLATED PROCESS. IT MUST BE REPEATED OVER TIME SO THAT WE ALWAYS HAVE OBJECTIVE CONTROL.

THAT IS HOW WE WILL KNOW EXACTLY WHAT EACH ATHLETE NEEDS TO BE IN AN OPTIMAL FORM AND TO PREVENT POSSIBLE INJURIES.

IN GLOBAL PERFORMANCE’S MORE THAN 10 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE THERE HAS BEEN A VERY LOW PERCENTAGE OF RELAPSES AND VERY EFFECTIVE ROCOVERIES WITH SHORTENED DEADLINES.
